Timeline: Infinity, before Sakura departs from the group.
Background: Kurogane is originally from Nihon, he was a ninja who swore to protect one person-- Princess Tomoyo. After his parents died when he was a kid, Kurogane lost his one true goal in life. Which was to protect his loved ones no matter what. Yet, after the lost of his parents, the ninja became a power hungry warrior. Only fighting to become stronger for personal gain, and not for the people he carried for.
Princess Tomoyo saw Kurogane lose a sense of himself, and told him that he had to learn the true meaning of strength. Placing the ninja under a curse in which if he kills anyone his power will weaken, the Princess sends Kurogane off against his wishes to see the Time-Space Witch, Yuuko.
When arriving at Yuuko's shop, meeting the mage Fai and the kid Syaoran, his one wish is to return to his home world. Yet, his wish isn't so easily granted, as he has to become a part of an adventure to rescue the kid's Princess' memories, hopping from world to world until he arrives back to his own. Paying the price-- which was his family's sword, Ginryuu, Kurogane hands it over but tells the Witch that he will be back for it one day.
Once the group receives their traveling "thing" Mokona, Kurogane along with the other three begin their adventure to different worlds.
When first traveling with the group Kurogane is withdrawn from the group, telling the kid that he will not be helping him in gathering Sakura's feathers. Yet, this quickly changes as Kurogane begins to fight alongside the kid and the mage.
Before the ninja knew it, he became attached to the group: Trusting Mokona when he seeks help from the Time-Space Witch, allowing Sakura to go receive the payment on her own, waiting for her return (although it hurts), training Clone!Syaoran to wield a sword (along with giving him advice) and accepting the fact that the Clone saw his past and was able to find a meaning it it (which Syaoran points out that Kurogane is a "very kind man"), being able to understand Real!Syaoran, being the only one who first accepted Syaoran into the group, and of course-- He is able to read Fai, seeing that the mage is clearly hiding something though he may not know what it is, and notices that throughout time Fai gets attached to the kids when the mage tried is hardest not too. When Fai was about to die (due to Clone!Syaoran ripping out his eye), Kurogane was quick in paying the price which was to become Fai's E to allow the mage to live against his wishes.
Kurogane is a skilled fighter and is considered to be the father in the groups little family. He is always there to protect them, and will give out a helping hand.
Personality: Kurogane is a warrior at first. Even when he is not in the battle field he is very quick at reading people and judging their motives. He is very blunt, and will say how he feels about you right off the bat. Although he likes to keep to himself, is rude, grumpy, short tempered and always yelling at the mage and Mokona-- Kurogane has a soft heart. He will do anything for the ones he loves, and as the story goes on, he learns the true meaning of strength.
Of course, he doesn't want you to say this out loud.
